Summer and Fall Ahead for AIU staff

With local district and state tournaments now in the rear view mirror, attention now is on summer travel tournaments and many special events.  Our relationship with the Alternative Baseball Organization has grown into a partnership, and we applaud their attending the Baseball Skills Clinic at Sun Trust Park, sponsored by the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday, June 27.  This group is providing a unique opportunity for many of our underserved citizens who just happen to be crazy about baseball!  Congrats to Taylor and Cindy Duncan, and all those who have helped them realize a very special dream.  AIU is proud to be associated with them.  New umpire candidates are appearing every week, and efforts are being made to offer short course training to get them involved prior to the annual group training in January.  If you know of anyone wishing to begin umpire training, please have them get in touch with any of the AIU leadership. Many of our veteran umpires knew Steve Tessereau, of the Powder Springs Youth Baseball program and were very saddened to hear of his passing recently.  Steve was a long time coach, umpire, and leader in the Powder Springs community and will be greatly missed.  The MABL/MSBL programs continue at full stride throughout the summer months, and Training Legends tournaments will be filling up as usual.  Adams Park will be hosting another large event for this organization from July 5-9 on all ten fields. Fall baseball is not that far away, and as many of our group enjoy a summer family vacation at the beach or in the mountains, we wish everyone a safe and enjoyable season.
